3 new tech gadgets you must have in your home in 2023

There's been a lot of speculation about where technology will go in 2023. In the medical field, 2022 will see a variety of impressive technological breakthroughs aimed at helping the injured and the disabled, among other things. Additionally, there are developments in other areas of the industry, such as mobile gaming, which is now expanding rapidly, with some impressive devices produced and released. Other devices include smart home products that make everyday life easier for individuals who prefer a more technologically rich home environment. With that in mind, it can only mean that the 2023 lineup is better than last year's. It's the third day of the new year, and there's already some exciting news about new technological advancements for 2023.

Home appliances have come a long way in the past few months. This has led to major companies like Apple, Samsung, and Google announcing their lineups. These include improving older devices as well as producing brand new devices designed to make users' lives easier. Additionally, word is that the new software could repair already faulty devices and improve newer ones. All the big brand companies are behind the idea.

1. Matter: A new smart home interface

Before discussing any tech lineup for 2023, it's worth talking about the concept of Matter and what it has to offer the tech industry. To do this, one must first understand previous smart home devices, such as those that control lights and the temperature of your home. Such technologies are implemented to help users and make life easier. However, the purpose is defeated when opening the mobile app and turning on the lights requires more effort than walking over and doing it manually. Plus, the technology in your home can be obtrusive. For example, do you want to decorate every room of your house with ornate screens and buttons?

This is where matter comes into play.

A good example is the Mui Board from 2017, a technology with a simple design that offers little luxury in terms of aesthetics. The main selling point is that it looks like just a simple piece of wood and can be easily incorporated into your home. Aside from the humble nature of the device, it has some useful features like a touch screen and LED lights to display information to the user. It reports the weather, time, and other smart home devices connected to the board. It allows these devices to be controlled through the Mui board and provides the illusion that the device is just a board when not in use. The downside of this device is that it has never been available to consumers in the market and needs to be expanded in terms of integration.

Recently, the second generation version of the Mui Board was launched at the Matter launch event in Amsterdam. A new version of the device adds Matter compatibility to its interface. This is much bigger than a simple interface upgrade, as Matter is compatible with many devices. This means it saves companies money and time generating separate integrations for each new device they plan to release. Matter helps by getting the basics ready and providing consumers with a more engaging user experience.

Matter will also improve the tiny problems smart home technology currently suffers from. The interface predicts when you want to perform a specific action. For example, you can turn on lights without intrusive voice commands or mobile apps

What does Samsung have in mind for 2023?

Now that Matter was formed to dramatically improve home appliances in the tech industry, it's no surprise that Samsung is ditching its 2023 home appliance lineup. Even though CES 2023 is getting closer, the company can't wait. Their lineup didn't disappoint either. It's called the Custom Collection, and it does feature some impressive upgrades to appliances like the refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher. Some equipment includes:

2. Custom 4-Door Flex Refrigerator Family Hub+:

The device now has a home hub and an impressive 32-inch screen, which can be found inside large glass-panel doors. Also, the screen is touch sensitive and offers a 21.5-inch display. While this might be considered unnecessary to some, the Family Hub feature allows for streaming and photo sharing. A useful feature is checking the status of other connected devices through the Family Hub. Additionally, beverage centers will double as ice makers, and AI-powered cameras will serve as inventory trackers.

Custom Side-by-Side Refrigerators:

Similar to the device listed above, this device has two doors. Additionally, it has a hidden beverage center and touch sensors that assist in opening the door when the user's hands are full.

Other appliances include a Bespoke AI wall furnace, wall mounted range hood and a pair of washers and dryers. These devices will be released throughout 2023, the latter later this year, and will all integrate Matter.

3. iRobot Roomba J7+

Not to be confused with Will Smith's sci-fi blockbuster, the iRobot Roomba J7+ is the latest robot vacuum in the Roomba line. While robot vacuums have been around for a while, and they're certainly not new technology in 2023, they're getting smarter over time. The J7+ is now a vacuum cleaner and a mop in one. Again, while this isn't revolutionary (Xiaomi has a robot vacuum that does both), it's the first time the device has a retractable mop. This means it can now detect which places you want to wipe down and which ones to avoid. For the first time, a robot vacuum can be completely independent without the help of many people.

If you've never seen a robot vacuum in action, you're dead wrong. They make life so easy.

What other technologies can we look forward to in 2023?

Finally, aside from Matter and its advancements in smart home appliances, what else is there to look forward to in the year of tech in 2023?

First, while it's not too big, AI Intelligence has proven to be very useful. However, it's gotten some relatively favorable exposure recently. ChatGPT has seen Microsoft buy a part of the company and become a shareholder in 2023. In addition, Google will also demonstrate its artificial intelligence tools this year.

The second is Apple's in-depth research in the field of VR and AR technology. The company is already working on a device that would mix the two into headphones and/or glasses. This could be hit or miss, but depending on the success of the device, other companies may follow their example.
